Gayle Temkin
P’23, ’25, Co Chair, Seize the Day
Gayle Weiner Temkin is a native of New York, earned her BA in Industrial Psychology and later received her MSW in Community Organization at Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work. Gayle moved to Connecticut when she married her husband, Steven. They have two daughters, Alyssa, a 2023 KO graduate and current Trinity College student, and Lily, a current KO junior.
Gayle is actively involved in the Greater Hartford Community. Gayle is currently Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford. She serves as a Vice President of Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford. She spearheaded community collaboration as a core member of the Executive Committee for the Aim Chai Endowment Campaign and the Day School Transformation Fund. Gayle is Immediate past Chairwoman and President of the Board of the Mandell Jewish Community Center and is Vice President of Connecticut Voices of Hope. Gayle also serves as ex-o cio on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. Gayle is also a graduate of the 2014 Wexner Heritage Fellows Program.
Gayle is passionate about providing improved treatments and ultimately funding the cure for Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD). Her daughter Alyssa, has GSD type 1a. She is Trustee and Founder of the Global Center For Glycogen Storage Disease. In 2006, Gayle and Steve created Alyssa’s Angel Fund in order to provide other GSD patients and their families with financial assistance if necessary, in order to get the medical care they need.
